Okay, so I’m assuming that you’ve seen the movies of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Lots of cannons, swords, muskets, and big ships with sails. Of course, that was a long time ago…but hey, your dreams of the romantic life of a pirate (hah!) can still be achieved! Check out this article from CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/04/04/cruiseship.pirates.ap/index.html?iref=mpstoryview.
So, let’s take this from a Christian perspective. Piracy is definitely not the dream job for a Christian (man or woman) obviously. The whole idea contradicts the Bible. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve dreamed about what it would be like to live the life of a pirate. Still, it’s not something that I plan on doing.
on deck, you grimy swabs!
yeah, i’ve thought about what it would be like to be a pirate. of course, i wouldn’t want to now: they use semi automatic weapons and up to date technology. it wouldn’t be quite as novel an idea. now, i’d choose the life of a pirate hunter. you wouldn’t have to wear those goofy ice-cream shaped wigs.
but no, on a serious level, piracy is against the Bible. however, i’ve often thought about outlaws like Robin Hood (even though he probably wasn’t real); was he really justified in stealing from the monarchy?
